PPECB has been awarded the contract to manage the SA PIP (South African Pesticide Initiative Program) and therefore will host the PMU (Program Management Unit) at PPECB head office. The SA PIP office is accommodated in the technical department and falls under the value stream of Business Development. The nature of the program fits perfectly with the new structure of PPECB. SA PIP will enable farmers to comply with EUREPGAP in terms of their pesticide usage and thus renders food safety feasible in the horticultural production.  SA PIP has been initiated due to a strong demand within the industry.

The SA PIP office was born with the appointment of Sandra Keller as PM (Programme Manager) in April 2004 and grew with three staff members to its full size. The duration of the program is until 31 December 2007 and the management office until June 2008.
