International Harmonization Workshop on Commercial Quality Standards for Fresh Fruit and Vegetables for Countries of Africa
Event Info
![]() |
The PPECB, in collaboration with leading international standards organization, the UNECE and the South African Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries are hosting a very first “Africa Product Standards workshop” on Fresh Fruit and Vegetables in April, 2010!
This workshop has a specific focus on African countries and endeavors to develop the knowledge and expertise of fruit and vegetable standards required for trade to major international markets. This capacity building initiative will mainly focus on the harmonious application of product standards across Africa, cognizant of the quality requirements within the European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom (UK). Leading international experts from the EU and the UK, together with Product Specialists from PPECB, will provide the platform for discussions on a variety of products. These products will include table grapes, apples, citrus fruit, onions and sweet peppers. Exclusive knowledge will therefore be provided during these discussions, made up of practical sessions and a field trip.
|
Exporters and traders within the African continent will enlighten delegates on the dynamics of trade with Africa, consumer requirements within the continent and possibilities on how to meet these requirements from a producer and exporter perspective.
