Mycotoxin Analytical Programme (MAP)
The Mycotoxin Analytical Programme (MAP) ensures confidence in food safety by impartially performing mycotoxin analytical services according to international best practice. Mycotoxins are toxins produced by food moulds with legal limits applicable locally and in the important export markets of Europe, Japan and the USA.
Mycotoxin contaminated foods typically include wine, dried fruit, cereals, spices, fruit juices, fruit purees, coffee, tea, nuts, pet foods, dairy, groundnuts and beer.
Specialist knowledge and experience gained over decades have enabled our testing facilities to expand to the point where we can analyse up to 200 samples per day by HPLC techniques, making us one of the biggest mycotoxin testing laboratories in the world. Accuracy and the speed of analysis have been the basis of our success.
Service excellence guarantees that mycotoxin analysis not completed within four working days after sample analysis authorisation will render the service free of charge. The accuracy of our mycotoxin HPLC analytical methods is continuously certified by independent international proficiency testing schemes. The Laboratory is accredited to the international ISO / IEC 17025 accreditation standard, by SANAS.
Specialist analytical services combined with mycotoxin risk management tools greatly contribute to the protection of South Africa’s market share and export reputation.
