Due to the dicsontinuation of the Fruit of SA Prefix on 1 October 2005 and the cash strapped position some Emerging Farmers in South Africa sometimes find themselves PPECB approached GS1 to negotiate the purchase of a number bank which PPECB would administer and provide to the South African perishable industry at no cost.
